I concocted a music mix at RadioMixTape.com. It's just ten songs from their catalog of artists I already knew & liked, but if you have the chutzpah in your bandwidth, you might want to check it out. It's mix #310, here:

I've been "SouthParked!" Silly & fun, here's my custom caricature.

It was time to take down the Christmas tune at MySpace, so now there's an open spot for another tune. I'm tired of rotating the same 6-month-to-a-year-old tunes in & out of there. I need to get on the recording stick [tape-op, hup-to!]. I've written a few lately, but I'm stuck in production. Again, it's a matter of hearing things in my head and not knowing the path from there [point A] to the actual audio I want [point B] and having to try different things. In some cases, it's a matter of not having a certain instrument at my disposal. And I just need to restring the Martin again, that's a fact. All of this detritus matters little, really. With another double-shot latte or so, I could forge ahead into the realm of discovery-- it's worked before [and also NOT worked, to be sure!]. Listening to the two Ray LaMontagne albums throughout the season has inspired me in the instrumentation area [he's not afraid to use strings and gospel-sounding organ-- but then he has the skills to back it up]. As for vocals, I remain a stand-in. When everything else is done and I have to get down to the vocals, my least favorite part, I do my best and hope it gets the idea across without wrecking the song.

"Lighter Than Air" has been giving me fits for months-- I can't seem to get it right. In the meantime, I've written and scrapped others, but have turned up one possibly EP-worthy piece called "Wishing Well." It's still in development in my head and could go a few different ways with respect to dynamics and tempo, but the basic intrumentation is there, at least I think.... Anyway, there are still others that need to be "retouched," as it were, for the EP. "Without You" needs to be tightened up, "Underneath" needs the guitar part redone, "Handful of Dirt" probably needs to be redone from scratch... again. At this point, I'm thinking of leaving both "Lover Go Home" and "Take My Life" in their present states. It is, after all, an EP of demos [I believe the term is "bedroom" demos].
